Jordan Palmer Believes Chicago Is Failing Justin Fields

Doesn’t everyone sort of feel this way? Quarterback guru Jordan Palmer basically said the obvious today. The Bears are failing Justin Fields. Frankly, I think we’re all pretty upset about it.

The new quarterback expert of the XFL weighed in on what Fields has to work with in Chicago:

“I’m not optimistic about how this year is going to go for [Justin Fields], largely because of the personnel the Bears have put around him,” former Bears quarterback Jordan Palmer told Heavy.

“I don’t see people on that team who are going to win 1-on-1 matchups,” Palmer said of the receiving corps. “At least not enough for Justin to play at the level he’s capable of playing at. Especially, because he grew accustomed to playing with guys who won their one-on-one matchup 100% of the time at Ohio State.”

“I played in Chicago,” Palmer said. “The expectations are so high, the pressure is very real, and I’m just shocked at all the things the Bears didn’t do to support their young quarterback.”

Is he wrong? I see nothing except facts here. Darnell Mooney is probably the worst number one in the league. N’Keal Harry was somehow good enough to not only make this roster but to also be the number two receiver. That tells you everything you need to know. It’s their own fault too. Chicago let Allen Robinson go and Velus Jones was a bad third round pick.

The offensive line stinks too. The Tevin Jenkins stuff is just the tip of the iceberg here. It’s insane they kept Ryan Pace for as long as they did. It’s even more insane Chicago drafted Justin Fields and proceeded to do nothing to help him. Does it get worse?

I was very high on Justin Fields as a prospect.

Palmer, 38, played for the Bears once upon a time. It goes back to the trend I spoke about in the Matt Forte post. Bears players are NOT SHY about blasting their former team. Olin Kreutz is another to follow that path. It’s awesome but also sad.

What do the Bears have going for them right now? Are they about to be worse than Detroit? Are they really going to screw this Fields thing up? Tune in next week Charles Tillman drops his next take why on his former team stinks. That was hypothetical but you get the point.
