Newly-drafted Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison has been trending in the NFL for the past week, but not for the right reasons. Addison was recently pulled over for speeding at 140 miles per hour, and the cause for that absurd speed has finally been uncovered.
The Minnesota Vikings selected Addison with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The goal behind this selection is to pair the already talented receiver Justin Jefferson. With the departure of hometown hero wide receiver Adam Thielen, the Vikings needed a number two guy. Of course we can’t forget K.J Osborn in the dust, who is due for a breakout season if Addison underperforms.
On Thursday, Minnesota State Patrol clocked Addison at 140 mph in a 55 mph zone. Doubling the speed limit in a zone is crazy, but almost tripling it is downright psychotic. To almost tone down the situation, Addison claimed that his dog was in an emergency, justifying his excessive speed.
Both Addison and the Vikings’ organization are fully aware of the situation to this point and have both released statements on their behalf. NFL reporter Albert Breer, released Addison’s statement to the public.
“Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgment. I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry.”
The Vikings would later combat Addison’s statement and release one of their own, via ESPN.
“We are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information.”
As of now, Addison is not facing any sort of suspension at hand, but could be dealt a fine or suspension soon enough. Will Addison face any sort of consequences? Was it just for him to go that fast? Let us know in the comments down below.
