Even though the Eagles are only 3-8-1 in a weak NFC East, Doug Pederson has nothing to worry about with the rest of the coaching staff according to Jim Schwartz. Jim Schwartz via Pro Football Talk:
“I think the whole staff has Doug’s back,” Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said Tuesday, via Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “We know what he’s going through and we feel the pressure on ourselves to go do our jobs better to take some of the heat off of him. I think that’s what a good staff does.
“Doug’s had our back in the past, we have his back. I think it all works together that way. I just think everybody needs to be more efficient at their job. I think everybody needs to recognize their part in it.”
It’s nice to have some uniformity for the Eagles, but if the shit is broke, you need to fix it. 3-8-1 is a terrible record. There’s no reason why the division leader should be 5-7 and the Eagles be behind them. The coaching doesn’t look good, the roster isn’t good, just nothing looks good for the Eagles. Now, Jalen Hurts has taken over as QB for the Eagles, I’m not sure it will make any difference. I think the entire Eagles organization needs to clean house and start over, New GM for this poor roster. New coaching for questionable play calls. Just get a new everything.
It’s probably reassuring for Jim Schwartz to have Doug Pederson’s back, but are we sure that is the right decision? Eagles need to be better than this and that starts with Pederson himself. Time will tell how long this statement of unity will last.
