Jerry Jones on Dak Prescott: ‘Don’t turn the ball over’

Jerry Jones has been backing up Dak Prescott for some time now, but the cat is finally out of the bag. Jones, the owner, general manager and president of the Dallas Cowboys, believes that Prescott has a turnover problem.

Prescott has been the hero and the villain of the Cowboys since he first entered the league in 2016. At first, Prescott had his turnover numbers at level water, but as time moved on, those numbers spiked. Last season, Prescott led the league in interceptions with 15, while only playing 12 regular season games. Not only did he lead the league in interceptions, but he statistically had one of the worst years of his career.

Prescott recorded his second lowest QBR, rating and completion percentage in his career. Even with the flaws behind Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys would finish with an impressive 12-5 record. Dallas would eventually fall short of the NFC Championship in losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional round.

“What I expect is not the unexpected. What last year represented relative to turnovers was unexpected,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I expect to see what we expect from Dak, which is don’t turn the ball over, be protective of the ball. When I think of Dak, that’s the first thing that comes to my mind. That’s what he does good.”

Prescott is yet to keep his interception numbers to a minimum in the past two years, clocking in 10 and 15 interceptions in back-to-back seasons, as well as 13 in 2017 and 11 in 2019.

Prescott is not the answer for the Cowboys. This process will continue to go on until Jerry Jones realizes Prescott won’t lead them to a Super Bowl, let alone a conference championship. Wake up Jerry, please.

Can Dak Prescott turn things around next season with the Dallas Cowboys? Or is it time for the Cowboys to move on? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
