Aaron Rodgers takes massive pay cut for the New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers is having the most fun he’s ever had in his career. Since joining the Jets in April, the four-time MVP has fit in nicely with the team and is loving New York.
“The last six weeks have been about the most fun I’ve had in a while. It’s fun to come to work and be excited about what we’re doing,” Rodgers said, via SNY.
When questioned about head coach Robert Saleh‘s statement that he would be “shocked” if he didn’t play multiple years, Rodgers said he does not envision a brief one-year stint with the organization.
“The team gave up significant pieces for this to be a one year thing, I’m aware of that, there’s an awareness of that. Anything could happen with my body and the success that we have this year,” he said. “But, I’m having a blast. I don’t see this as a one year and done thing.”

Rodgers’ grumpy attitudes toward the Packers in the last few years illustrated the deteriorating relationship. In fact, he expressed that he wanted to leave the team back in 2021 and it was downhill from there.
In 2021 and 2022, Rodgers actively chose not to attend OTAs. Additionally, he signed a substantial three-year, $150 million deal that significantly limited the Packers, leaving them with merely $12.4 million available after his trade.
Now, Rodgers is being team-friendly, taking a colossal $35 million pay cut in a new adjusted contract, per Tom Pelissero. The Jets inherited a two-year, $110 million deal and Rodgers is dropping it to a two-year, $75 million contract.
It’s clear that Rodgers wants to win a ring or two with the Jets, and the new adjusted contract gives the team a golden opportunity to win the Super Bowl with their new quarterback.
