James Cook emerged as one of the better running backs in the NFL this year. Not that you’re surprised if you’re an avid reader of this site. I tried to warn you this was coming. You’re welcome if you were smart enough to draft him in fantasy. I think if you’re looking for something to complain about, it’s the usage in the offense, but that’s a story for another day.
However, it’s soon time for Cook to cash in. The 2025-26 NFL Season will be the last year of Cook’s rookie deal. A deal that will pay him $5.19 million in 2025 after being a second round pick.
The former Georgia product has a number in mind for his next contract…
Cook said on Instagram that he’s looking for $15 million per year.
Honestly… that’s a more than fair number when you consider that Cook is the best weapon that Buffalo has. Dalton Kincaid is not it and Keon Coleman is still mooing from being too raw. Cook is a huge part of this offense. I’d argue he’s the anchor outside of Josh Allen. It’s hard to suck and score 18 touchdowns, which Cook did this past year.
Not to mention the fact that Cook impacts the game in the passing game too. He’s not just a one-dimensional runner. He’s just as vital in making an impact through the air. If the Bills are smart, they get this taken care of before it’s too late.
