Jalen Suggs Says He Has the Highest Ceiling of Players in 2021 Draft
Presumptive lottery pick Jalen Suggs believes he has the highest ceiling among all the prospects in the 2021 NBA Draft. In an interview with Complex Sports, the former Gonzaga guard said this:
“I haven’t been a full-time basketball player yet and that’s scary. I literally put in five months of no basketball every year. I never touched a basketball during [football] season. Now to have it year round like all the rest of the guys, working on my game year round, man, couple that with my work ethic and you talk about ceilings, I don’t know how mine isn’t the highest?”

Suggs was a two-sport athlete throughout his prep days at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On the basketball court, the six-foot-four point guard was a five-star recruit while on the football field, he was a three-star dual-threat quarterback, according to 247Sports.
As we all know, Suggs eventually chose to hang up his cleats and enrolled for one season at Gonzaga. There, he helped lead the Bulldogs to the national title game while averaging 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. That stellar run of form bumped him up many analysts’ draft boards, as he now sits as a potential top five draftee.
The confidence shown by Suggs in the Complex interview is no surprise. He is a natural leader on the court and has no qualms about chirping at opponents. He has a strong handle, a knack for finding his teammates in good spaces, and loves to operate in 1v1 match-ups.
He has already received top prospect billing for the talent he showed at Minnehaha and Gonzaga. Some here at Vendetta even think that Jalen Suggs is the top player in this draft, despite the presence of Cade Cunningham, Evan Mobley, and Jalen Green. So, if we have yet to see him play a full calendar year of basketball like he says, and if those seven months are any indication, we could be looking at a potential All-Star and mega-talent in the league.
