Jalen Hurts is making key improvements to his game over the offseason

Jalen Hurts started his first full year last season in 2021. He had 3144 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Also, he finished with a 48.5 QBR and a completion percentage of 61.3.

He played well and showed flashes of being a capable dual-threat quarterback. Hurts and first-year head coach Nick Sirianni led the Eagles to a 9-8 record. Moreover, they finished second in the NFC East. The Eagles with Hurts and Sirianni heading into year two together are looking to win the division in the 2022-2023 season. There is optimism heading into training camp as Hurts is taking strides over this offseason. Furthermore, according to John Clark, Sirianni and offensive coaches have stated that they have seen improvements in Hurts’ game.

Hurts was in the bottom third of the league last year in completion percentage. Accuracy is a big factor in a quarterback’s completion percentage. Hurts demonstrating improvements with his footwork and accuracy will be imperative if he wants to take a big step forward. As well as that, he will need to become a better quarterback if the Eagles want to have post season success.

Life will be easier for Hurts after the Eagles traded for pro-bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown during the 2022 NFL draft. He is going into his fourth year as he spent his last three years with the Tennessee Titans. Also, the Eagles possess wide receivers DeVonte Smith and Quez Watkins. Smith is a talented Heisman award winner that had a good rookie season in 2021. Without a doubt, he was the number one option for the Eagles last year but he might be turned into a wide receiver two after the acquisition of Brown. Additionally, their third option is Watkins a young wide receiver with top-notch speed.

The Eagles now have arguably a top ten wide receiver room in the NFL. Hurts is in a good position to progress his game and take advantage of his skilled weapons. If Hurts can continue to improve his game like he is doing with his accuracy and footwork. The Eagles should have a good shot at winning the NFC East.
