Jalen Coker 2024 NFL Draft Profile
Holy Cross enters the party for the 2024 NFL Draft. That’s right, Holy Cross has a draft eligible player that is actually worth talking about. Jalen Coker is next up on the to-do list so let’s dive right into it.
Route running. That’s the name of the game and it’s the only reason why Coker is here. He’s good at it. Crisp and technically sound. Forget the small school. The guy gets open. It’s literally the only reason why he’s worth being on the radar but it’s the most important trait to have.
The production is what it is. 2023 Coker had his best year reeling in 59 receptions for 1,035 yards and 15 touchdowns. More importantly, had a positive showing against real competition against Boston College. Got open against Elijah Jones who will be in this draft class.
Has no recruiting profile. Zero star guy hailing from the state of Virginia. No real straight line speed threat. Ran a 4.57. However, had some really good leaping numbers (42.5 vert, 10’8″ broad). Wasn’t impressed during the Combine. Had an ugly gauntlet swerving all over the place and zero grease lightning in and out of breaks.
At the end of the day, Coker should be viewed as an undrafted free agent who will have to prove himself on the practice squad. Can’t see anybody drafting him. Has some craftiness to his game and can catch the football. Just has no real ceiling that excites you. Depth guy at the bottom of the roster who can reel in a clutch catch when called upon is probably what you’re hopeful for.
