Jake Paul Set to Box Anderson Silva in October

Most Valuable Promotions has announced that Jake Paul will box UFC legend Anderson Silva on Oct. 29, 2022, at Gila River Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.

This news was leaked last week, but the fight is now official. New details have also emerged.

The bout will be eight rounds and it will be contested at 187 pounds, according to MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. Helwani also added that the event will be available for purchase on Showtime PPV.

Paul has made a name for himself in the world of boxing due to impressive performances against other notable UFC fighters. He defeated former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, twice. One of these wins came by split decision while the other came via knockout. He also knocked out Bellator and ONE welterweight champion Ben Askren. Paul’s 5-0 record is rounded out by wins over NBA player Nate Robinson and YouTuber Ali Eson Gib.

In the past, Paul was scheduled to fight professional boxers Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr., but both fights were canceled.

Silva will present Paul with his biggest test to date. He is a UFC legend that excels at striking. Boxing may not be his martial art as the Brazilian is known for having great kicks and knees. However, he has performed well in the ring. Despite being 47, Silva has gone 2-0 in boxing since his MMA retirement. This is headlined by a win over former WBC welterweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. He also knocked out UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz.

Heading into their bout Paul seems to be confident that he can defeat the former UFC champion.

“It is an honor to be in there with the legendary Anderson Silva – although I’m going to knock him out under five rounds,” Paul said in an announcement.

It was evident that Silva was the most logical choice for Paul’s next opponent. This fight will give Paul an opportunity to legitimize his boxing skills while Silva can earn a big payday.
