Is Jared Carrabis Leaving Barstool?
Jared Carrabis is currently a baseball writer and media personality for Barstool, but is he leaving the company? Carrabis’s contract negotiations were brought up and Nardini shed some light on his status on his situation on the Token CEO podcast with Erika Nardini.
Kirk Minihane joined Nardini to promote his newest project, a true-crime podcast called The Case, but after they were done promoting the show, Minihane started negotiating the next contract for Carrabis and things took a turn for the “Saugus Rocket.”
“Jared made a bunch of promises though that Jared didn’t necessarily keep which is the issue. Like Jared said ‘I am going to be in New York every week, every other week, I am going to be there all the time’ and that’s not happening”Erika Nardini on Token CEO
I really doubt that Carrabis is going anywhere as he is a Barstool guy through and through. He has two baseball podcasts, Starting 9 and Section 10, where he not only does national baseball coverage but also Boston Red Sox coverage specifically.
Leaving the New York office has not always been the best career move for people at Barstool and according to Nardini, his podcast is not doing the numbers they had hoped.
“I would like his baseball podcast to grow” – Nardini
“Are you saying that it has not grown to the numbers that you wanted it so far” – Minihane
“Yes” – Nardinivia Token CEO
This could be for a variety of reasons, but I am viewing it as a motivational tactic. If you are comfortable with your numbers and audience, people can become relaxed and complacent. I don’t think Carrabis is that type of guy, but he has been yelled at before for not pushing Black Friday merchandise and has been in “the hot seat” for a few months now.
Bottom line is Jared Carrabis will be back at the office more, but I don’t expect him to leave Barstool anytime soon.
