Ian Garry Has Massive Potential With The UFC

Cage Warriors has produced some incredible talent throughout the years: Conor McGregor, Dan Hardy, Michael Bisping, Jack Shore, “Meatball” Molly McCann, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Paddy Pimblett and a cast of others. Another fighter is leaving their cage for the UFC and that man is Ian Garry. After winning the Cage Warriors Welterweight Championship in a dominant decision win over Jack Grant at Cage Warriors 125 in June, he announced that he would be joining the UFC. Here is his statement from his Twitter.

When asked about his future earlier this year, he had this to say.

Full quote from MMAJunkie.com:

“I’m pretty confident with my current skills I could walk into the UFC today and beat 80 percent of the UFC welterweight roster,” Garry said. “I’m hungry. I want to go in and prove how good I am. And I’m not stupid. I fight. I fight smart. I don’t fight stupid. … Even if you put me in there with Kamaru Usman right now. Do I think I’d win the fight? Probably not. Am I going to make it hard for him? Yeah.”

Ian Garry is a Swiss army knife inside the cage. He can finish the fight any way he wants to. Submission? He can do it. Knockout or TKO? He has plenty of those on his record. Plus, Garry is ELECTRIC on the mic. Plus, Garry is only 23, so the sky truly is the limit for him. This new wave of fighters coming over from England, Ireland, Scotland among others are brash, in your face and they know how to fight. I predict massive things in the coming years for “The Future” and I will go on record now as saying I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Welterweight gold wrapped around Garry’s waist at some point during his UFC career.

A debut fight for Ian Garry hasn’t been announced yet, but with a London card rumored to be on the horizon for the end of this year, you have to imagine that that card will feature Garry on it. Outside of Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal (who let’s not forget is garbage), and maybe a handful of others on the roster, there are few that can talk the way Garry can and who can shine under the spotlight the way he can. At 23, I can not wait to see what the future holds for Mr. Garry. I will certainly be tuning in.
