How Does Jayson Tatum Feel About The Celtics Letting Grant Williams Walk?

Grant Williams is gone. We talked about that yesterday, but the main takeaway should be that the return feels pretty light. Two second rounders while Dallas is also getting two somehow? Brad Stevens belongs in jail and this is just example 842. With that said, how does the face of the franchise Jayson Tatum feel? That’s what really matters.

Tatum gave a pretty nonconfrontational answer but it should be noted that Grant Williams was Tatum’s best friend on the team. If the moves this offseason don’t work, will it be tougher to stomach knowing that the Celtics could have found a way to keep Grant? AKA being patient and sending Brogdon’s higher cap hit out the door instead of Smart in the Porzingis trade?

VIA The Boston Globe:

“Tatum keeps a pretty tight circle, and Williams was probably his closest friend on the team,” Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reported Thursday. “Over the past two years the Celtics have gone out of their way to appease their franchise cornerstone however they can, and the Williams move appears to run counter to that. But one league source said Wednesday that Tatum understood the decision and is primarily focused on the construction of a championship-level roster around him.”

It should be noted the embed above ^ was written prior to the new rules. Even with the new rules, Grant should have been paid. The stupid Brogdon deal cost this team again.

This Celtics team lacks mental toughness. Brad Stevens decided the plan was to trade the two toughest guys on the team. I’m sure that won’t backfire at all! Can someone explain why this man child is still in charge?
