How Do The Josh Allen Haters Look At Themselves In The Mirror?

How do the Josh Allen haters look themselves in the mirror? ESPN wrote a post documenting how many people were wrong about Allen. (AP Photo/Brett Carlsen)

Josh Allen has made a lot of people stupid, sans Trey Daubert, of course. A lot of people whiffed on Allen who has since become an MVP candidate. Today, ESPN ate their crow and posted an article titled: – “How Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went from mediocrity to NFL MVP contender”.

Before we get to the laughable portion of the article, let’s not waste any time. If you didn’t think Josh Allen could play, you don’t know how to scout. I’m being 100 percent serious. If I missed on Allen and said the things about him the way others did, I would retire from the sports media world. I’d never be able to look myself in the mirror again. I would wake up every single day and feel like a failure. Not a joke. I’d resign from the website and hand the keys over.

Of course, there’s the group that doesn’t know how to evaluate the quarterback position and then there’s Trey.

VIA ESPN:

WHEN WAS THE exact moment you realized Josh Allen had made you look like a fool? How many “Are you bleeping serious?” throws did he have to make for you to question your entire belief system when it comes to predicting the success of an NFL quarterback? Because, dear reader, most of us did not arrive at this moment easily.

It took some time, and some serious self-reflection, for me to willingly don this clown suit that Allen is making me wear. But I come in peace, on the brink of the NFL playoffs, ready to own my shame.

This is a safe space, if you are ready to do the same. Because there are plenty of us out there. Football Outsiders called him a “parody of an NFL prospect” and said “every piece of empirical evidence we have on Allen leads to him being a failure.” Troy Aikman said it would be hard to imagine him improving his accuracy, that he’d never seen it in 17 years of studying the game. Pro Football Focus’ lead analyst mocked him for missing the net in drills at the Senior Bowl. An editor from NBC’s ProFootballTalk joked that Roger Staubach was more accurate, even at age 76. Even ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky expressed skepticism that Allen would be able to process things quickly enough after the snap to ever evolve into a franchise quarterback.

I’m dead serious. If I missed this bad on Allen I think I would retire from the sports world. No quarterback is perfect coming into the NFL, but you just didn’t have eye balls if you completely dismissed the former Wyoming quarterback.

Allen had everything you wanted from a skillset standpoint: Size, mobility, and rocket arm. His ball placement just wasn’t always there. Allen was a lump of clay. If given a great environment in the NFL, this was always the result.

What was the problem? Allen wasn’t always accurate. K… how do we fix it? Hand him over to quarterback expert Jordan Palmer to fix his mechanics. Then let’s build this fucker the right way. Let’s build a wide receiver unit that’s short, fast, and shifty. My quarterback doesn’t have to be perfect throwing 50-50 balls.

The weapons around Allen were built FOR Allen. Cole Beasley isn’t a world beater but he’s perfect FOR Allen. Ditto for John Brown. Now that Buffalo has a true number one with Stefon Diggs, the potential has finally been seen.

The Bills had a plan. Something about the cold weather in Buffalo and Allen fits perfectly. Brian Daboll was a great hire. For years I kept saying “God Buffalo had a good draft”. Brandon Beane knows what’s he’s doing. Allen was always worth the risk on draft day because the ceiling is what we’re seeing now.

As I said when Allen got the snot kicked out of him in college by Iowa, nobody knows how to evaluate the position. I don’t care that the results weren’t there. I do care about the way he can bend his knees, the plus mobility for his size, and the way that ball comes off his hand.

I got news for everyone. Allen was very combustible. If he were drafted by the Jets, the haters would have won the argument. However, that’s not the case. The lump of clay was turned into a beautiful artifact. Josh Allen is the MOST TALENTED quarterback in football. There’s not a quarterback in football you would trade him for.

One small step for the haters. One large step for team Trey. Josh Allen is a MF monster and there’s nothing you can do about it.
