Henry Ruggs sentenced to 3-10 years in fatal DUI crash
Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs has been sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison after he plead guilty to a fatal DUI crash back in 2021 that killed a woman and her dog.
It was reported that the 24-year-old climbed up to speeds as high as 156 miles per hour while holding a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit when the crash occurred. Ruggs would strike 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her dog Max and ultimately kill them in a collision on Nov. 2, 2021.
Ultimately, in the hand of law enforcement, Ruggs agreed to plead guilty to charges of Vehicular Manslaughter and DUI.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, Ruggs received his official sentence and apologized for his previous actions.
“I sincerely apologize,” Ruggs said. “I have no excuse.”
The former Raiders wideout would then apologize to Tintor’s family, teammates and his own family for his horrific actions. Ruggs would go onto say that he is “truly remorseful” about his actions on that early November morning.
Tintor’s mother would make her statement regarding the loss of her own daughter.
“Her beauty has been stripped from the world,” her mother said, via Fox 5. She added that she hoped everyone involved could “move forward in caring for each other.”
Ruggs hasn’t played an NFL snap since Oct. 24, 2021 with the Raiders. In that game, Ruggs would catch four passes for 24 yards, adding one carry for seven yards. Ruggs finished out his NFL career the way it started: downhill.
No timetable has been released of when Ruggs sentence will begin, but one thing is for sure, he will not being seeing an NFL field for a while, or even ever again.
