You’re All Going To Owe Me An Apology About Eric Stokes

When I plant my flag on something, I’m ALWAYS right. It’s only been one year on this particular topic but I think I can go ahead and just put this one in the bag already. You’re all going to owe me an apology about Eric Stokes. The Packers cornerback is a superstar in the making and he could have been on your team had I been the general manager. For the life of me, I just don’t understand why nobody listens to me.

Stokes is the best second year player that you’re not talking about. The former Georgia product thrived as a rookie right away. Stokes allowed a completion percentage of 49.5 on 45 targets. That completion percentage allowed ranked 4th among all cornerbacks last year.

Keep in mind, Stokes was facing number one wide receivers for a large portion of his rookie season after Jaire Alexander went down with an injury. The Packers secondary never faltered. Rasul Douglas shined last year as a waiver claim. Douglas likely doesn’t have the same effect if Stokes doesn’t fill the Alexander void.

Stokes also led the Packers and his entire rookie draft class with 14 pass deflections. Only three penalties too. I can shove stats down your threat all day. Stokes’ skillset was always going to translate. The speed is off the charts. The toughness and physicality has to be at the 95th percentile for all corners. The ball skills are on point. There is a reason why I was falling in love with Stokes during the predraft process.

If you’re not already on the Eric Stokes bandwagon, it’s too late. Want to hear an even bigger travesty? Madden has him ranked as a 78. I can promise you that will look idiotic by this time next year. Green Bay may very well have the best cornerback unit in the league and Stokes is a big reason why. Give my man respect now before it’s too late.

When the former Georgia product turns into a star, I want my credit. It’s a travesty I’m not running a team right now. Just get ready. The Stokes breakout is coming. Don’t come crying when it does.
