Is Garrett Wilson Going To Be The Best NFL Fantasy WR In 2022?
In such a loaded WR draft class in 2022, there should be much debate and competition on who will be the top fantasy rookie WR in 2022. While this might be premature already, I think it’s narrowed down to 2 names: Garrett Wilson and Jameson Williams. However, I think I am going to go with Garrett Wilson on this one. As I said, this might be premature and a bold take considering the 2022 NFL rookie WR draft class, I think it is the correct one. Let me explain.
Out of the most relevant and tier 1 rookie WRs in this class (Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Garrett Wilson, Jahan Dotson, Treylon Burks, TECHNICALLY Drake London, he’s a bust though, and possibly Christian Watson) I think Garrett Wilson’s ceiling for fantasy might be higher than the others. First, the Jets play in a competitive division of the AFC East. While they themselves might not be the most competitive ones, I do believe the AFC East games will be tight. The Jets shouldn’t be winning too many games considering they play the Bills, Dolphins, and Patriots twice a year. The Jets also play the AFC North this year and the NFC North. The AFC North will be tough to play against.
I say all this to say the Jets will be down a lot in these games. When you’re down, what do you do? Pass. Despite the Breece Hall and Michael Carter tandem, they will need to pass to stay in games. You don’t draft a guy 10th overall to not pass to him. Garrett Wilson might be the best WR on the Jets right now. Elijah Moore and Corey Davis are his competition. Zach Wilson should have more time in the pocket this year to throw. I do think Wilson might emerge as the WR1.
It’s tough to try to find out who is the WR1 out of the rookie WRs for Fantasy football but I do think Garrett Wilson has a really good shot at being that guy. If not him, he still should be very high in the fantasy WR rookie rankings despite how talented this class was. You can’t go wrong with Wilson as a rookie WR, Chickster guarantees.
