Alabama freshman DB Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry has signed the perfect NIL deal. The Pinson, AL native announced a deal with none other than the popular drink, Kool-Aid. The five-star recruit broke the news on Twitter and it had fans going crazy – it is the best NIL deal to date.
To solidify the deal, Kool-Aid and McKinstry swapped names on Twitter. McKinstry put in his Twitter bio, “Honored to partner with Kool-Aid the Brand … I will be sharing the OH YEAH title with the Kool-Aid Man!” Kool-Aid’s Twitter also announced the deal in their own bio, check out what they had to say below:
“In honor of our new partnership, we’ve swapped names with Kool-Aid McKinstry and given him the power of OH YEAH.”

McKinstry has had a good two weeks. On August 5th, he appeared on CBS This Morning to receive the award for The Best Defensive Player in all of high school. Less than two weeks later, he landed his deal with Kool-Aid. Not bad for someone who has yet to play college football.
I do not think a deal exists that is more fitting than the agreement between McKinstry and Kool-Aid. College athletes are taking full advantage of the new NIL rules and McKinstry is the next to do so. Many football players have signed huge brands deals already, including some who have yet to play on a collegiate field at all. Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei announced a deal with Dr. Pepper and Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux partnered with United Airlines. NIL is taking over collegiate athletics and athletes are already making good use of the new rules.
