The ageless wonder Frank Gore signed a 1-year deal with the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Frank Gore joins a running back room with Le’Veon Bell and Josh Adams. In 2019 the Jets ranked 32nd in total yards per game, 31st in points per game, 29th in pass yards per game, and 32nd in rush yards per game. This signing comes with hopes that Gore can provide a veteran presence in the Jets’ running back room that struggled last year.
Frank Gore is almost a lock for the Hall of Fame, with 15,347 rushing yards which is 3rd most of all time! Only behind Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith. Along with 79 rushing touchdowns which is 21st of all time.
Gore, now reunited with head coach Adam Gase is on his third AFC East team in 3 years. In 2017 under Gase, Gore had 722 rushing yards with no rushing touchdowns. In 2018 with the Bills Gore had 599 rushing yards with 2 rushing touchdowns. Adam Gase has been clear about him being upset with the Le’Veon Bell contract and wants to use Bell less in the offense. Bell’s time in New York has been less than ideal, for a multitude of reasons. His carries were a career low at 245 rushing attempts. He had 789 rushing yards which is only higher than 556 in 2016 in which he only played in 6 games. His 3 rushing touchdowns are tied for a career-low with 2016, which he again only played 6 games. Along with head coach Adam Gase not loving the idea of Bell’s contract it seems like Bell’s struggles in the Big Apple will continue. This also brings up the question of, will the Jets trade Le’veon Bell before or during the 2020 NFL season?
