Fortnite’s Creative 2.0 is Out Now

On Wednesday, Fortnite developer Epic Games announced the release of one of the most important changes to their battle royale title ever. The UEFN, or Unreal Editor for Fortnite — more commonly called “Creative 2.0” by fans — will allow players and creators to change the ways they play like never before, from custom maps to gameplay.

What Else Can it do?

According to a report by Gamespot, the Creative 2.0 program allows players to create and add anything and everything they could want into “custom experiences” in Fortnite, powered by a new program language created by Epic Games called Verse.

Verse could prevent some users from participating in Creative 2.0 if it becomes difficult for users to learn.

New Payment Method:

Beyond UEFN Epic Games also announced a new pay structure for the program. The Creator Economy 2.0, not to be confused with Creative 2.0, will allow creators who use the UEFN program to earn money for their work — similar to Bethesda’s Creative Club. Epic Games has already begun working with creators to promote the launch of Creative 2.0. And it gets rolled out, no doubt more and more creators will hop on.

The Future of Community Content:

Fun fact: Originally, Fortnite was not the battle royale game that has garnered over 70 million users. Fortnite was supposed to be a much different game; with the launch of Creative 2.0 and the Creator Economy 2.0, Epic Games seems to want to expand the title out from its battle royale comfort zone.

“Save the World,” Fortnite’s original game mode, has received less consistent attention from Epic Games compared to the battle royale mode. With these changes, however, it won’t be just “Save the World” or battle royale taking up the company’s time for much longer.
