Fantasy Hockey: Elias Lindholm To The Canucks
The Canucks landed Elias Lindholm right before the All-Star break. With the second half of the NHL Season about to resume, let’s talk about everything you need to know about this deal from a fantasy hockey perspective.
This is your home for fantasy hockey advice, right? How many more years in a row do I have to beat the piss out of Sean Allen to gain your trust?
I’m not going to sugarcoat this one. Lindholm’s fantasy value exploded the second he got traded to Vancouver. We don’t exactly know how the lines will shake out. What we do know is that Lindholm will take Kuzmenko’s spot on the top powerplay unit. A unit that includes Elias Pettersson, JT Miller, Quinn Hughes, and Brock Boeser.
Take JT Miller, for example. Miller already has 29 powerplay points in 49 games. That’s just PP points…
Lindholm, 29, has 32 points on the entire season. The amount of points he’s going to collect on that Vancouver PP unit alone gives him an enormous bump in fantasy.
That right there tells the story. Lindholm wasn’t skating with premier talent in Calgary. The last time he had a superstar season, his linemates were Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau. Both are obviously gone now. In Vancouver, Lindholmd will have much better linemates. It’s really as simple as that.
The on-ice fit should be pretty seamless, in reality. This is your Bo Horvat replacement. I don’t expect much time to get Lindholm up to speed.
If you have Lindholm in fantasy hockey, count this as a blessing from the fantasy gods. If you have an opportunity to go trade for Lindholm, I highly advise you to do just that.
