Canucks Acquire Elias Lindholm
I wrote a post last month about why the Avalanche should go trade for Elias Lindholm. It won’t be Colorado for Lindholm. Instead… the lightning rod Vancouver Canucks have won the sweepstakes for Calgary’s number one centerman.
The Canucks will acquire Lindholm. Frank Seravalli was the first to report the news:
Andrei Kuzmenko is one of the pieces heading to the Flames. Rick Tocchet clearly didn’t like the guy so it’s not surprising. The Russian forward is in the first year of a two-year contract that pays him an AAV of $5.5 million. To trade Kuzmenko and somehow gain cap space while acquiring Lindholm is a pretty crazy thought.
Below is the player card for both Lindholm and Kuzmenko.
Hunter Brzustewicz is also going to the Flames in part of the trade. Brzustewicz, 19, was the 75th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. At the time of trade, he has 69 pts in 47 GP for the Kitchener Rangers (OHL). The Canucks did not sign him to an ELC yet. It’s a prospect so I’m just going to leave it at that.
Both teams have finally announced the trade. I’m just going to share the presser because the details on this trade have trickled in in 800 pieces.
What’s funny is the Canucks kinda get their Bo Horvat replacement back. Can they get Lindholm signed long term or is this just a rental?
