The Steelers finally cut bait with George Pickens. Anyone who actually owns Pickens in fantasy football probably threw a party based on the fact that getting away from Mike Tomlin feels like a win on its own. With all that said, let’s get down to business and share some thoughts for you to think about now that the trade has gone down.
Again, this is a win just getting out of Pittsburgh. Say whatever you want about Dak Prescott, he’s an upgrade over Mason Rudolph and or Will Howard. Even if the Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin isn’t the head coach, so it’s a win for Pickens.
Let’s also talk about this. CeeDee Lamb commands a ton of attention. He’s also amazing at working the slot area. If Pickens is getting those deep ball looks in one-on-one coverage, he’s going to have a monster season. The guy had 900 receiving yards last year on a broken offense while completely shutting it down and not trying. Imagine what he can do when he has a contract on the line and Lamb taking up the attention?
I’m also not sure that Brian Schottenheimer is the disaster hire everyone thinks he will be. Does Dez Bryant really deserve to have an opinion on this? Regardless of whether you like the coach or not, they’re going to throw the football based on sheer necessity. This is not the prime Zeke Elliott Cowboys. This is the Cowboys that still don’t have a reliable running back with, shell of himself, Javonte Williams. The Dak who threw the ball 590 times two years ago might be back to do just that.
The talent with Pickens is obvious. Getting out of stubborn Pittsburgh is one thing. Transferring into a dome with a quarterback who can actually throw is another win. I have no idea where these idiots in the fantasy community will rank the former Georgia product, but my guess is it will be too low. Stay tuned for this year’s Matthew Berry challenge for that!
