Pat McAfee Re-Signs With WWE
Pat McAfee, an analyst for WWE Smackdown and former Indianapolis Colt, has signed a multi-year extension with the company, per an announcement from WWE on Thursday. McAfee appeared as a guest analyst in NXT in 2018, but officially joined the company in April of 2021. Since joining the company, he has been an analyst alongside longtime WWE analyst Michael Cole on Friday Night Smackdown.
His resume does not stop at just being an analyst, as the 35-year-old does have a few matches under his belt. His first match was against bitter rival Adam Cole at NXT Takeover XXX in 2020. McAfee’s second match was a couple of months later in an NXT War Games match. His most recent match was against Theory at WrestleMania 38. He also faced Mr. McMahon right after beating Theory and lost. He now has a match set for SummerSlam this year against Corbin.
The details of the extension have yet to be announced. WWE said, “The new pact will see McAfee entertaining the WWE universe for years to come.” McAfee has been a great addition to WWE as an analyst for Smackdown. The pairing with Michael Cole really benefits both of them. He is charismatic, entertaining, and full of energy — the perfect combination for a good analyst.
McAfee has also shown he knows his way around a wrestling ring. He has improved immensely since his first match in NXT, and I think he is going to surprise a lot of people at SummerSlam. That will be his fifth match in WWE, with all of them being better than the last. I have said it before and I will say it again, Pat McAfee will go down as the best WWE signing ever. The future is bright for McAfee.
