The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL to date. Philly currently sits at 5-6 and somehow have a shot at the playoffs with the ongoing struggles of the Cowboys. The number one thing that stands out is how bad the Eagles’ wide receivers are. Is Carson Wentz playing well? No, but he also doesn’t have a fighting chance with this group either.
Dan Orlovsky put out a really interesting video that really captures just how bad these wide receivers are:
It’s bad. REALLY BAD. The Eagles just cut Jordan Matthews. Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and Nelson Agholor were hurt. It’s not like Agholor was going to help either. Right now Philly is working with JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Mack Hollins, and Greg Ward. It’s awful.
Let’s break these guys down. Arcega-Whiteside can’t run routes. He’s a jump ball guy. I was super critical of Philly picking him. Arcega-Whiteside was way overhyped during the draft process and it’s showing in the NFL. He stinks. Mack Hollins is a special teams guy. He’s on the roster to fill space. Hollins hasn’t caught a pass since Week 4. Wentz doesn’t even bother to throw him the ball and he’s on the field all the time. Wentz has targetted Hollins once in 4 weeks. Greg Ward was a quarterback at the University of Houston. There’s a reason why he didn’t make the Eagles roster the first time.
This group stinks. Orlovsky hit the nail on the head. This is the worst collection of wide receivers I can ever remember. If the Eagles miss the playoffs, they have no one to blame but themselves. Can’t put this group of wide outs on the field and expect to win.
