The Eagles Super Bowl LIX Victory Is A Howie Roseman Story

Before I begin, I’d like to direct your attention to the article written by young Andrew last night who provided a great perspective on the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory. This is my attempt at a follow up because as Vendetta’s NFL Draft maniac, the story of this championship season can’t be told without the heroics of Howie Roseman.

Let’s just go back to a few years ago. It was Roseman who felt like he was on the hot seat. It was a few NFL Draft classes filled with comedic errors. Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson? JJ Arcega-Whiteside over DK Metcalf? Those wide receiver misses prevented the Eagles from ever being a real contender. Roseman deserved his criticism during those years.

It’s how Roseman responded that won Philadelphia this championship. I can’t totally confirm this part but it sure seems like Roseman had a talk with himself. Maybe Trey influenced that but that’s not for me to say.

Screw these small school guys. How do I get my hands on as many of these elite players from the SEC as possible? The work started and his decisions to come would set the stage for this championship.

In my NFL Draft grade write-ups, nobody scored higher than Philadelphia over the last three years. It would be four years but I dinged them with a B- in 2021 because they took DeVonta Smith instead of Micah Parsons or Patrick Surtain but that goes back to the make up pick for all the wide receiver misses. It’s what happened after that, which really turned the tide for Philly.

In 2022, they landed a stud class including using picks to land AJ Brown.

In 2023, they stole the best player in the draft and it didn’t stop there.

In 2024, they solidified the secondary to complete the defense.

Roseman always had the right approach with the draft. The fat guys up front determine the outcome of these games and he’s always built his team through the trenches. However, it was the shift in thinking to be smart enough to grab these demons from Georgia, which got the Eagles back to this point.

The entire defensive front is filled with former stars at Georgia. Winning titles is nothing new to them. It’s the same front that guided Georgia to a 65-7 championship victory over TCU. Being the one General manager smart enough to collect that collection of talent made this championship happen.

The Eagles are a Howie Roseman story and they absolutely deserve this title.
