Is Dallas Goedert Being Slept On? Howie Roseman Thinks So.
The Eagles hype train is out of control. Philadelphia is currently betting favorites to win the NFC East in 2022. Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith all have their supporters within the fantasy community. Howie Roseman wants to make sure none of you forget about tight end, Dallas Goedert. He’s going to be VERY involved.
“The guy that I think we’re all sleeping on, and it’s so funny because I was thinking about this last night and I was like, ‘I have to go talk to this guy today because of how excited I am for him this year’ is Dallas Goedert,” Roseman said to WIP.
“And I understand it. Everyone’s excited about A.J. I’m excited about A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in his second year and Jalen and our offensive line.
“But this guy (Goedert), man, this guy is another physical freak. This guy really can do everything you’re looking for from the tight end position, he’s really come into his own, his work ethic. I think he’s really one of the guys we haven’t talked about enough, about how good of a player he is and how good he is for our football team.”
I know a lot of this stuff is coach / exec speak but I’m with Howie on this one. You never really hear anyone mention Goedert mentioned among the elite players at the position. Look, nobody is saying Goedert is Kelce or even freakishly built like Kyle Pitts. However, if you do your homework, I don’t see anybody that’s willing to argue that Goedert isn’t one of the ten best at the position.
Goedert is primed for a big year. It’s one of the reasons why I’m out on AJ Brown from a fantasy perspective. Love the talent. Just not sure the top ten WR price tag is there on a throwing attack led by Jalen Hurts. DeVonta Smith is no bum either. Goedert has built that rapport with Hurts and should have a nice year (health permitting).
In 2021, Goedert had 56 receptions for 830 yards and four touchdowns. I’ll take the over on all of those totals.
