Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has had speculations about the Sacramento Kings in the past, especially at the beginning of the year. But now the veteran big man is tipping his cap to the newfound Kings.
“The Kings have sucked, let’s just face it,” Green said. “Since I’ve been in the NBA, they have sucked. They have not made the playoffs since I’ve been in the NBA. So it’s not like some bulletin board of disrespect, it’s actually a fact. They are who (the Warriors) were when I came into the NBA. They’re changing that.

“I also said on that episode, now the Kings got (head coach) Mike Brown, and I expect that to change. I also had De’Aaron Fox on my podcast, and I told Fox, ‘Fox, this is on you. Kings get to the playoffs, this is on you, my brother.'”
The Sacramento Kings are back in the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, snapping a 16-year playoff drought; the last time they were in the postseason was in 2005-06. Now, the 2023 NBCA Coach of the Year, Mike Brown, has led this Sacramento squad to an incredible season.
“I give credit where credit is due,” Green said. “What Mike Brown has gone to Sacramento and done is absolutely amazing. I expect him to continue taking that franchise upward in the right direction. I give them their props. They’re doing a great job.”
Funny enough, the Sacramento Kings and Draymond Green’s Warriors will face off in the Western Conference playoffs. The No. 3-seeded Kings will be at home for the first two games against the No. 6-seeded Warriors, who finished 11-30 on the road, on Saturday, April 15th at 8:30 p.m. ET.
