Don’t Eat The Cheese! 2024 Fantasy Baseball: Outfielders
Slowly and surely Vendetta Sports Media will establish itself as the premier go to site for fantasy sports. You can laugh at that statement all you want but the evidence doesn’t lie. I own fantasy hockey (RIP Sean Allen). Matthew Berry was embarrassed. In 2024 we’re throwing our hat in the fantasy baseball realm and the Don’t Eat The Cheese series will return to cover MLB.
For now, I don’t have anything against ESPN’s fantasy baseball department. Time will tell if that changes. In the meantime, I’m just going to give you busts. Any player that’s ranked too high inside the top 50, we’re going to expose them together.
*Link to ESPN rankings. They constantly change so don’t shoot the messenger if they’re updated after publication.
Aaron Judge (New York Yankees) -OF7, 17th overall
How can you trust him? Would be nice if he’s healthy. The problem is if I get hit with the injury bug I’m screwed. Can’t throw picks this high down the toilet. He’s already opening the season hurt. All I can say is proceed with caution. I just think the price is too high to be lighting prayer candles begging the fantasy gods for a token of health.
Kyle Schwarber (Philadelphia Phillies) -OF10, 47th overall
This is what you do. You wait for the guy that gets sick of Schwarber in April. Offer him some bum that is lighting it up in April. Then you cash in for the fantasy playoffs. Two years ago he hit literally .169 in April. Over the last two years, he has 11 homers if you combine March and April together. Just be patient and follow the game plan. The fantasy gods will be with you.
Honorable Mention: Steven Kwan
Sorry, but I just have to talk about this one quickly. WTF is this ranking? OF 11 and 59th overall? Is that some sort of sick joke? Nice player but half his value comes from defense, which means nothing in fantasy. Doesn’t hit for power at all. I truly don’t get it. Especially not for fantasy.
