It’s a heavy wide receiver class in the 2020 NFL Draft so I’m going to squeeze in a few more draft profiles. Donovan Peoples-Jones is a player I listed on my top 10 wide receiver list for the draft this year. The Michigan product is being overlooked but may wind up being a very productive pro. Let’s dive right into the Donovan Peoples-Jones 2020 NFL Draft Profile.

Let’s start here. Donovan Peoples-Jones was BIG time recruit coming out of high school. DPJ was the number one wide receiver in the 2017 class and 12th best prospect in the country. The man has talent. 4.48 speed, 44.5 inch vertical, and 139 inch broad. 6-foot-2, 212 pounds, DPJ has the components to turn into a stud.

After a 34 reception, 438 yards, 12.9 average, six touchdowns season, those stats don’t look sexy. That is until you consider his quarterback was Shea Patterson. We’re talking about a HORRENDOUS quarterback that probably wouldn’t be able to compete at the XFL level. Patterson was TERRIBLE at Michigan and comically bad at the Senior Bowl. A wide receiver isn’t putting up production with nobody throwing him the ball.

The fact that Donovan Peoples-Jones had 47 receptions, 612 yards, 13.0 average, eight touchdowns in 2018 is a miracle. Peoples-Jones may not be a route running technician, but he has plus quickness, speed, and is physically imposing. DPJ showed an abilty to break tackles and create after the catch too.

Peoples-Jones is very much a wildcard. It’s hard to know just how good the Michigan wide receiver is but he’s done enough to take a flier on. You don’t see a ton of explosion but he also wasn’t given a fair shake.
