Donovan McNabb is officially back in the media. In 2018, McNabb was fired by ESPN, after being named in a lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment. Five years later, McNabb is back in the mix. McNabb will be starting a new show called The 5 Spot with Donovan McNabb through the OutKick network.
The news was first reported by Awful Announcing. I encourage you to read the post. It does a great job detailing McNabb’s journey through the sports media realm.
“I’ve always been a fan of OutKick and I’m excited to take the next step in my career off the field hosting The 5 Spot,” McNabb said in a statement. “I look forward to providing my analysis of games every week and interviewing former players and coaches. I can’t wait to get started.”
McNabb will host the show with Armando Salguero. If Salguero’s name sounds familiar, it’s because you have probably seen his work while covering the Dolphins. Salguero previously worked for Miami Herald, Palm Beach News, and Miami News prior to joining OutKick.
The decision to join OutKick is an interesting one considering how it’s owned by a conservative-leaning Fox Sports. Clay Travis sold OutKick to Fox in 2021. That’s not anything new as it’s been a conservative-leaning platform ever since Travis started the publication. Time will tell if McNabb proves to be a vital fit there.
Feel free to make it splash in the comments. Do you plan on checking the new McNabb show out?
