Do The Denver Nuggets Have Your Respect Now?

Do The Denver Nuggets Have Your Respect Now?

I have been patient. Denver Nuggets fans across the globe have been patient. We have sat back and watched the national media and the talking heads go on and on about this team, doubting them every step of the way. For me, this has been 17 years in the making; others have been waiting 47 years.

This article is for those who doubted this team. For those who second-guessed this squad. Last night, this Nuggets team answered all questions. They ripped the hearts out of the Miami Heat, and in doing so every single heart of those who underestimated them. They are now your reigning, defending NBA champions.

Do the Denver Nuggets have your respect now?

We just witnessed one of the greatest postseason runs in NBA history — this much you cannot deny. The narrative swirling right now is that this is one of the weakest title runs in NBA history based on who Denver played. I call BS.

Minnesota was easy, but Phoenix came up on the schedule and the vast majority of the media picked the Suns to advance. How did Denver respond? Winning in six games.

Next was the Lakers. Social media scoffed at the idea they could beat Los Angeles — this includes a certain someone at Vendetta, your time is coming. They heard the noise. Their response? Storming into LA and winning back-to-back to sweep LeBron James, Anthony Davis and their crew.

Well, they faced Miami, Garrett. They were an 8-seed. So? This Miami Heat team deserves all their flowers and then some. Let’s look at who they faced:

  • No. 1 overall Seed: Milwaukee Bucks in five
  • No. 5 Seed: New York Knicks in six
  • No. 2 Seed: Boston Celtics in seven, including being up 3-0

Himmy, I mean Jimmy, Butler would not take no for an answer this postseason. He willed this team to incredible lengths, displaying that he deserves his spot among the best players in the league. Coach Erik Spoelstra flexed his coaching chops, putting on masterclasses during every series, even the Denver series (see Game 2). Star-making performances from guys like Bam Adebayo, Gabe Vincent, Max Strus and others. Heat fans have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about.

There is probably thousands of folks I could turn my attention to, but I have my eyes set on one man: Trey Daubert. Yes, the don of Vendetta Sports Media. The biggest Denver Nuggets hater on their road to becoming NBA champions. The very same who said that no one intelligent took Denver seriously.

Well, my friend, that turned out to be wrong. But it does not stop there! Oh, no. In this next stretch, we will be going over roughly ten screenshots I have accumulated since early February. We will be going through each one, one at a time. Shall we begin?

I have addressed this prior in my response to Trey’s article about the Denver Nuggets not being title contenders, so I won’t harp on this one too much. The Nuggets went on to become NBA champions, while the Boston Celtics, once again, collapsed in the playoffs.

There was a difference between this Nuggets team and the Jazz and Hawks squads he was speaking of. Those teams did not have the best player on planet earth on their team: Nikola Jokic. Doubling down on the narrative that Denver wasn’t a serious title contender. This also aged pretty well, I’d say.

No one does the NFL Draft like Trey. I trust his word on NFL prospects more than any of your favorites. His NBA opinion? Not so much. He was feeling feisty with this one, predicting that Denver would drop the upcoming game to the Phoenix Suns. Let’s take a peek at how that worked out.

I may not be the brightest lightbulb in the pack, but if I understand it, the team with the higher score is declared the winner, right? So Denver ending the game up 10 points not only means they beat Phoenix, but that they soundly beat them. Nice prediction.

Speaking of predictions, I have two screenshots to share, and we will address both at once.

First off, I know what you’re thinking: I don’t really know what Milo is doing in the NBA chat anyway. The definition of a casual trying to talk with the big boys, claiming that this Lakers team is the best 7-seed in NBA history.

We did not hear a peep out of Milo all series after it started, crawling back to wherever he came from, hopefully learning his lesson and realizing that this Lakers team was terrible and never stood a chance. I doubt we will hear much from him again.

Trey went as far as to write a guarantee blog! The Lakers were definitely beating this Denver Nuggets team! No chance Denver would advance to the NBA finals, their first in franchise history, and potentially become NBA champions. No way!

Boy, did that age like milk.

The Lakers were supposed to “balance everything back out” by stealing a game in Denver. Mind you, Denver was undefeated at home up to this point. Let’s see how Game 1 went for Denver, then let’s peek and see how Game 1 went for Boston.

As it turns out, there was an upset of a higher seed at home for Game 1, just not the one Trey was thinking of. Didn’t seem like the karma gods were too pleased with all the trash talk and guarantees and they really turned Denver’s way.

I have been patient. So patient. I wanted this title more than anything. I was superstitious about it, too. I grew out a playoff beard. Shaved like a week before the play-in games and did not touch it all throughout. I was going to pull out all the stops, no matter what it took.

I believed in this team and bit my tongue for months leading up to this moment. The karma gods sided with the fans of the Denver Nuggets, and they rewarded us with crowning Denver as NBA Champions.

Do the Denver Nuggets have your respect now?
