DeVante Parker Sucks, Has No Fantasy Value With Patriots
Don’t bother. Don’t even waste your time. Don’t fall for the cheese. I’ve already put out my Don’t Eat The Cheese list for wide receivers but it has one notable omission – DeVante Parker. The only reason Parker isn’t on the list is because I wanted to use more high-profile names. Let’s make one thing clear. DeVante Parker flat-out sucks and has no real fantasy value with the Patriots.
I think these two tweets summarize things pretty well. Falling for the DeVante Parker cheese would be like intentionally sticking your finger in the mouse trap. He never gets open (kinda matters) and he’s done nothing in practice. Sure, practice is practice but none of this is surprising.
When is the last time Parker had a good year because he’s only had ONE ever. 2019 was the only year Parker eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark in a season and frankly hasn’t come close any other year. Weird stuff happens in sports. We have enough data at this point to know that 2019 year from Parker is the outlier of all outliers.
I’m just kinda out on this whole Patriots thing in general. Bill Belichick should be fired. They somehow don’t have an offensive coordinator. Matt Patricia will have a big voice in that department and that guy doesn’t know his right from left. Don’t tell me Belichick is just smarter than everyone. He’s mismanaged this roster in the worst way.
The Patriots have the most expensive receiving room in the entire league and don’t have a single guy that can play? How is it possible? New England will commit $70 million to a bunch of bums. The next closest mark in the league is Jacksonville with $53 million committed. It’s a joke.
If you’re going to take a shot on a Patriots pass catcher, it’s probably just Hunter Henry at tight end given the scarcity at the position. Frankly, I’m mostly out on taking anyone from the Patriots in fantasy minus their ball carriers. I’m in on Rhamondre Stevenson but only because I know they will run the football like they always do. Outside of that, this Patriots team is in for a rude awakening.
Don’t draft DeVante Parker. If you’re stuck with him in a long term league, try to find a taker and convince them he’s the top target so he has to have value, right? There are just so many better gambles you can take. Putting your eggs in the basket of a guy that is the worst receiver in the league at getting open doesn’t sound like a wise strategy.
Side Note: It’s still insane the Patriots gave up a third rounder for him. Insane.
