There has been a lot of conversation around the Eagles wide receiver room. It’s a group that was horrendous in 2019. There is one wide receiver that really changes the complexion of this group. That man is DeSean Jackson. I think it should be noted that Jackson is head and shoulders the number one receiver on this roster.
I get it. Jackson didn’t really play much a year ago. However, the skill set hasn’t diminished. Jackson is still fast and hasn’t lost a step. D Jax was the number one scoring wide receiver in fantasy Week 1 of the 2019 season. Week 1 against Washington, Jackson went for 8 receptions for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jackson is the most dangerous wide out Philly has.
I don’t see the arguments for the other players on the roster. Alshon Jeffery is going to start the year on the PUP list. He’s not going to play for a while. Jalen Reagor is a rookie. Doug Pederson has already come out and said he just wants Reagor to learn from Jackson. I like Greg Ward but he’s not a number one. JJ Arcega-Whiteside can’t play a lick.
I love taking Jackson in fantasy leagues. Will he play a full 16 game season? Probably not, he hasn’t done it since 2013. Even if Jackson misses 3-4 games, he’s still the receiver I want on this offense. The speed has not diminished and Carson Wentz trusts him more than anybody that doesn’t play tight end.
The risk may be there but only with health. The reward is off the charts and a chance to be the number one option with Carson Wentz and the ability to catch a 50 yard bomb every week.
