Derrick Rose is a Knick… Again

Derrick Rose is headed back to the big apple.

He will reunite with his former Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau.

New York will be acquiring Rose in exchange for Dennis Smith Jr. and future draft equity. The report was first reported by James Edwards and Shams Charania.

The pick is believed to not be the Pistons’ own 2021 second round pick that New York has posession of, but instead it could be the 2021 second round pick that the Charlotte Hornets owe to the Knicks.

Adding Derrick Rose, who has become a savvy veteran point guard. But scoring is a need for the New York Knicks.

Whether Rose starts in place of the defensive-minded Elfrid Payton or not, Thibodeau just got his offensive guy.

The last time Derrick Rose was in New York, he averaged 18 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds across 64 games. Rose has become a better three-point shooter since those days.

Shams reported that Rose and the Detroit Pistons agreed that a trade would be the best move for both sides. While the Detroit Pistons could be on their way to a rebuild.

With a Top 5 defense in the league already this season, the Knicks needed a little more offense from the point guard. Now that they have it. Thibodeau will have his work cut out for him. As he now has five point guards on his roster: Rose, Payton, Austin Rivers, Immanuel Quickley, and Frank Ntilikina.

Rose will wear the #4 for the New York Knicks according to Shams.
