All ACC cornerback Derion Kendrick will be taking his talents to Georgia. The Clemson transfer was dominant since switching to cornerback from wide receiver in 2019. After allowing 15 yards or less in 18 of his 24 starts, Clemson will be missing his lockdown ability in their secondary. In the past two seasons, Derion Kendrick has been a vital part of the Tigers’ defense racking up 3 interceptions and 11 passes defended. His efforts in the 2020 season got him on All-ACC First team honors. However, Clemson saw their season come to an end in the college football playoffs as Kendrick was repeatedly cooked by Ohio State star receiver Chris Olave. Before the rough Sugar Bowl outing, Kendrick had not allowed a single catch on 8 targets all season. Kendrick possesses great size at 6’ and 190 lbs for the position too.

For Georgia fans, this news is much needed after their secondary suffered massive losses this offseason. Star cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell were drafted in the first and second round respectively, leaving gaping holes in the Bulldogs’ defense. Kendrick will be able to step in and take on an immediate starting role. The news comes soon after Georgia landed former 5-star recruit Arik Gilbert, the tight end transfer from LSU.

After losing star receiver George Pickens to an ACL injury, Georgia will need all the help they can get in 2021. Derion Kendrick and the Bulldogs will be taking on Clemson week one in an exciting matchup. As Kendrick looks to get revenge on his former squad, he will be taking on Clemson star Justyn Ross who will likely be back from injury. With college football still months away, there are many enticing headlines already forming.
