Demi Lovato New Music Video Is A Reenactment Of Her Overdose
Demi Lovato, the former Disney star turned pop-star, has had a long list of health issues in the past few years, both physical and mental. Most notably, she has dealt with opioid addiction for quite some time, and eventually succumbed to an overdose that nearly killed her. Since then, she has been working tirelessly on dealing with her addiction and crippling depression that led her down that dark path.
Now in recovery, she recently released a docu-series on YouTube that goes in-depth into the months of her life leading up to her overdose. Lovato also released a new song titled “Dancing With The Devil” along with the music video to accompany it. The music video features Demi in her most vulnerable state, in which she reenacts the night of her overdose that took place in 2018. Demi and the video production crew even went so far as to show Demi in the exact outfit she wore that very night and depicted the drug use. The second half of the video shows Lovato in her hospital bed as she sings along to the song.
Demi Lovato Says She’s Still Dealing With Ramifications Of OD
Demi Lovato has been using the prolonged hiatus as a chance for her to heal and share her story with the world, and it seems far from a PR stunt. She has been very candid about her struggles in an attempt to inform people and make them aware of the long-term effects opioids can have on a person. Ahead of the release of her docu-series, Lovato spoke to reporters about the problems she still has to deal with after going through a traumatic overdose.
“I was left with brain damage and I still deal with the effects of that today,” Lovato said, per CNN. “I don’t drive a car because of blind spots in my vision…I had trouble reading.”
If nothing else, people should see the way Demi Lovato is handling her personal issues and take advantage of the message she’s sending. She has been brave enough to be fully transparent about her struggles, despite a lot of the backlash she’s received on social media from scumbag fans. What she’s doing is a positive step towards recovery and she has her own way of healing, so props to Demi Lovato.
