Deadpool 3 Set To Join The MCU With R Rating- Kevin Feige Reveals

Deadpool 3

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds’ iteration of the merc with a mouth will join the MCU and the movie will be R-Rated. Reynolds is working on a script right now.

Speaking to Collider during a WandaVision press event, Feige went into a little more detail about the project:

“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan is overseeing a script right now… It will not be filming this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Up until this point there had been some confusion over whether the MCU could or would include Deadpool, especially since no MCU project had an R rating. However, Feige appears to be confirming both its place in the MCU and R rating with his words.

During the same event, Feige told IGN that Reynolds is working on a script, which one would assume is the same script written by Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. This will hopefully serve to put fears that Deadpool wouldn’t happen to bed, which stemmed following talks between Reynolds and the studio in 2019 not returning fruitful. There was no further word on whether previous director David Leitch will return for the new movie, although with filming not taking place this year, his schedule should allow for a Deadpool 3.

The MCU so far has a dense future with a variety of Disney+ exclusives and movies on their way. Pandemic delays saw 2020 as a year void of MCU content but already confirmed for 2021 are the likes of WandaVision and Spider-Man among many more.

The former of which begin streaming on Disney+ on January 15th.
