The Dave Portnoy and Kyrie Irving saga has reached new heights. In the midst of a back-and-forth on Twitter, the pair have now agreed to play each other in a one-on-one basketball game. The Barstool Sports founder and Mavericks star will face off in Portnoy’s home state of Massachusetts. Portnoy essentially confirmed the news on his Twitter account.
Phillips Park it is. Good luck with wind. I know you don't like playing unless everything is dead ass perfect. Then to my parents for knishes, latkes, challah. https://t.co/4wqXkjPZMv

Talk about putting your money where your mouth it (figuratively). While everyone knows Portnoy is a guy who pushes the envelope, even I am surprised that he agreed to this.
Say what you want about him, but Irving is still a very good basketball player. Probably even better 1v1 than 5v5. If this were to get televised or live streamed, Portnoy risks getting seriously embarrassed against the eight-time All-Star. However, one silver lining is that this beef could have a happy ending. At least, that’s what was alluded to if they actually end up going to the Portnoy household after.
Of course, there had to be another twist in this story. The official date for this pickup game has not been confirmed yet, but Irving lashed out at Mike Gunzelman, a writer for OutKick, for a story he wrote regarding the situation.
Portnoy was very quick to reply and even revealed a DM he sent to Irving. Check out his most recent tweet.
Umm Kyrie you are getting companies mixed up. He doesn't work for me. But I did send you a DM yesterday to set up game. Need less talking and more action. Novel concept for you I know. @KyrieIrving https://t.co/HL0rl2juy4 pic.twitter.com/D0ixSOZFJ1

At this point, I would be shocked if Kyrie walked back on what he said. If this actually comes to fruition, it may become one of the most entertaining things we’ve seen in a while. Everyone who has used social media knows that meeting someone in person is completely different from what you say to them online. Of course, I don’t think anything too serious like a fight would occur. This is a difference of opinion between two very strongly opinionated individuals.
The clash between Kyrie Irving and Dave Portnoy may have something more than just smoke this time around. Lots of people, including myself, are anxiously waiting to see what happens next.
