Dallas Turner 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Last year it was Will Anderson. This year it’s Dallas Turner. Yes, Alabama is putting another talented pass rusher into the NFL. The 2024 NFL Draft Profile will cover everything you need to know on Turner. Let’s get right into it.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native was a five star prospect coming out of high school. Turner has been hyped for a long time and it’s not like he disappointed. Turner dominated at St. Thomas Aquinas, which is the same school the Bosa brothers came from. Turner was rated as the best edge player coming out of high school and was the 12th rated player in the entire country. Was involved with USA Basketball growing up too.

Turner stepped onto the field right away at Alabama and made an impact. There is no better indicator for future NFL success than performing well as a freshman in the SEC. Turner won Freshman All-SEC and compiled a stat line of 30 tackles, 10 TFL with 8.5 sacks. The production took a bit of a dip in 2022 where he notched just four sacks. Then in 2023, Turner turned into the full-fledged monster that he is notching 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 14.5 TFLs. The voters recognized how good Turner was naming him First-team Associated Press All-American, SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and First-team All-SEC.

NFL fans know all too well what works at this level. You need pass rushers who are just pure freaks. Turner fits that mold to a T. Turner totally blew up the Combine. I have no idea why the NFL had him workout with the linebackers instead of the edge rushers but whatever. Regardless, he posted a 4.46 on the 40 and leaped 40.5 inches on the vertical. Just totally insane numbers for a guy who measures in at 6-foot-3, 247. He obviously moved well in space during the drills too.

I like that Turner has a mean streak. The NFL claims to be pro player safety more than anything. Turner is going to pick up flags next year for roughing the passer. Not sure you can hold it against him. Blame the NFL for creating idiotic rules. He literally murdered Jayden Daniels in the LSU game this past year. He went alien mode against Ole Miss this past year too. He’s mean, nasty, and comes at you in a blur.

I’m not sure how difficult this evaluation is. Some guys are just a different breed and Turner is simply a dude. Great closing burst on quarterbacks. What more is there to say?

Will Anderson was a top five player in the draft last year. No question about that. Turner is more of a 5-15 type of guy for me. More twitched up than Anderson with the same mean streak. Just not quite as pure power. I really like the player and he’s the unquestioned best pass rusher in the draft for me.
