Cody Rhodes Reportedly “Locking Up” With Former WWE Champion In LA Ahead Of WrestleMania 39
Cody Rhodes turned the professional wrestling world on its head when he returned to WWE earlier this year. He immediately had a classic feud with Seth Rollins, before suffering an injury. But Rhodes wrestled his final match with the injury and has been sidelined ever since. Rhodes last wrestled in June of 2022, at Hell in a Cell against Seth Rollins. Since then, he has been recovering from his injury and hasn’t appeared in WWE since. He has spent almost half of the year recovering from his torn pectoral muscle. But we may have gotten news on when to expect the American Nightmare back in the company.
When Will Cody Rhodes Return?
According to Fightful Select, Cody Rhodes was reportedly in LA shooting a commercial for WrestleMania 39. The commercial reportedly features Cody Rhodes locking up with WWE superstar the Miz. This commercial was to help promote WrestleMania 39, which takes place on April 1st and 2nd of 2023. According to Fightful Select, WWE expects Cody Rhodes to be fully healthy for WrestleMania 39 next year. WWE never really doubted whether he would be ready or not. No further details have been announced. But many fans around the world anticipate Rhodes to participate in the Royal Rumble in January of 2023.
Furthermore, it reportedly has been discussed by WWE to have Roman Reigns defend both the WWE and Universal Championship on both nights of WrestleMania 39. He would reportedly defend one against Cody Rhodes and the other against the Rock. When Rhodes returned to the company, he made it clear he wanted to win the WWE Championship. But None of this information has been confirmed and it is all rumors.
