Cleveland Cavaliers
It’s time for the Cleveland Cavaliers season preview! What should we expect from Collin Sexton in year two? (Kevin Jairaj/USA TODAY Sports)

The Cleveland Cavaliers feel like they’re either terrible or very, very relevant. When LeBron James feels like playing for them, they’re good. That is until he wrecks the roster and knows it’s time to move on so that they can rebuild the roster for an ultimate return. They’re the ultimate side piece franchise. Let’s get this one over with because this team is going to be tough to watch. Here is your Cleveland Cavaliers season preview!

Key Additions: Darius Garland, Alfonzo McKinnie, Dylan Windler, Kevin Porter

Darius Garland comes over as the 4th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He played a handful of games in college for Vanderbilt. I’m not really sure what you’re even getting. How could you know? The rookie class includes 3 first round picks. Dylan Winder and Kevin Porter Jr. being the other two. Windler provides shooting prowess but not much else. Cleveland really went all in trading a bunch of future draft capital for Porter. He better hit. Alfonzo McKinnie is a waiver claim from Golden State? Maybe he comes off the bench and provides some value.

Key Departures: ?

The Cavs lost some players. The roster changed. Did they really lose anything that would be defined as “key”? Probably not. Some key parts got moved around. Guys like Kyle Korver, Sam Dekker, and role players have moved on. Cleveland is going younger and hitting the total reset button. Hopefully, they can build quickly because John Beilein isn’t getting any younger.

Potential Starting Lineup: Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Cedi Osman, Tristan Thompson, Kevin Love

I don’t think it is any secret that the Cavs are going to be a bad basketball team. This is a lottery team waiting to happen. That doesn’t mean they don’t have storylines to pay attention to. Can Darius Garland and Collin Sexton work together? Two point guards on the floor together that provide little defense. Call me skeptical.

Can Cedi Osman be more than just a high energy guy? Will the Cavs actually trade Kevin Love? He’s of no use in Cleveland. If Cleveland wants to cash in on any of Love’s value, a midseason trade makes too much sense.
