Chris Jericho tells WWE “Don’t go too far up your own a**” following AEW’s ratings defeat

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho has weighed in with his thoughts about WWE’s recent win over Dynamite in the TV ratings, and he isn’t holding back.

On October 10th, 2023, AEW Dynamite aired a special Tuesday edition of their weekly show entitled “Title Tuesday.” This was due to the Major League Baseball divisional round of the playoffs taking place on Wednesday, forcing All Elite Wrestling to move days. Due to this, they had to go head-to-head with WWE NXT on the USA Network.

Despite All Elite Wrestling putting on a show full of great matches and talking points, it was WWE who drew more viewers, besting AEW Dynamite with 921,000 viewers and a 0.30 number in the key 18-49 demographic compared to Title Tuesday’s 609,000 viewers and 0.26 demo number. A large reason why NXT picked up the victory was down to the number of big names they brought in for one-off appearances, with Paul Heyman, John Cena, and even The Undertaker all showing their face.

It’s because of these big names not being available every week that has led Chris Jericho to warn WWE to not get ahead of themselves. Speaking to “The Messenger” the former AEW World Champion said that All Elite Wrestling didn’t get crushed in the ratings, so WWE should keep calm about what happened on October 10th.

Don’t get too far up your own ass because you didn’t do that good of a job as far as crushing us. And our show was better than theirs, quite frankly. So, it doesn’t bother me. It’s competition, man. It’s good for the fans, it’s good for the companies.”

Chris Jericho was in action on that episode of AEW Dynamite

The Ocho was noticeably absent from the most recent edition of AEW Dynamite (October 18th, 2023 at the time of writing) as he was given the beating of a lifetime on the Title Tuesday edition of the show.

Jericho was demolished by Powerhouse Hobbs on October 10th, making it one of the cleanest victories anyone has earned over the former AEW World Champion in years. Chris was beaten so badly by Hobbs that commentator Excalibur announced during the show that he had been taken to the hospital to treat his injuries.
