Chargers Sign Clueless Anthony Lynn To An Extension

The richest running back coach in the league is about to get even richer. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn has signed a contract extension beyond the 2020 season. Despite being one of the biggest clueless clowns among the coaching ranks, the Chargers continued to reward him for no reason. The Chargers obsession with Anthony Lynn continues to be one of the great mysteries in the NFL.

Adam Schefter of ESPN had the following:

“Before he could head into the last season of his deal, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was given a contract extension this past week that now leaves him with “multiple years on his contract,” a source told ESPN.

However long the extension is, it gives Lynn an added measure of security and the Chargers a coach under contract for when they move into their new stadium next season.”

Despite having one of the most loaded rosters in the NFL, Lynn is 26-22 as an NFL head coach. Not a bad record except for the fact that the Chargers keep getting worse the longer he’s in charge. The Chargers have the 6th pick in the draft this year after finishing with a record of 5-11. Lynn got an extension anyway.

Lynn getting a head coaching job in the first place was a joke. He spent 13 years in the NFL as a running back coach without ever getting a promotion. He then got a coordinator job with Rex Ryan after the Bills fired Greg Roman midseason. The Bills offense immediately got worse. Roman has done great work with Tyrod Taylor and Lamar Jackson. With Greg Roman, Tyrod Taylor had a 9-1 TD-INT ratio in 2016. With Lynn, Tyrod had a 8-4 ratio.

Lynn doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. It’s why the Chargers were always the team that found new ways to lose while Philip Rivers would blow a gasket dealing with his clueless head coach every Sunday. Good luck, LA. Now you’re stuck with him.
