Carter Bradley 2024 NFL Draft Profile
I try to be a fairly optimistic person, at least in terms of my scouting coverage. But I’ll be honest, this 2024 NFL Draft profile is not going to be pretty. South Alabama’s Carter Bradley had little to no draft stock going into the pre-draft process, and he definitely did not do himself any favors during it. What does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.
Bradley has been in college since 2018, so you’d think he has a fair amount of game experience. You would be wrong. He spent four years at Toledo, attempting 327 passes during that time. He would transfer to South Alabama and become the starter, where he’d throw for almost 6,000 yards and 47 touchdowns on close to 65% completion during his two years there.
Carter Bradley is the son of former Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley. That’s the only positive I have.
I’m kidding…mostly. One because I’m not sure that’s really a positive, but also because Bradley doesn’t have a ton of tools that I would look for out of a quarterback. His arm is above average, it’s not a noodle like some others in the class but comparing him to someone like Milton or Rattler would be a disservice. The completion percentage during his two years starting is a good platform to build off of too. Most of the offense at USA was shorter throws, so I would hope he could hit the underneath route and let his receivers run.
The positives are barely that, while the negatives are just things evaluators can’t ignore. Next to no mobility in the pocket. The amount of throws I watched that would either land short or just immediately dive is alarming. He’s a check-down savant, which won’t work if you want to be taken seriously in the NFL. Maybe that’s because he knows he can’t push the ball down the field. Thanks to the simplistic offense at USA, he has little to no anticipation, going through progressions is also a struggle.
There are actually sites and writers out there who believe that Carter Bradley could be a day-three option and has some sneaky potential. That’s how I know a lot of the people online can’t be taken seriously. Thankfully, you have Vendetta to lean on for the best draft coverage and profiles. Bradley gets an undrafted grade from me, with zero interest in signing after the draft or bringing into camp. To quote Trey, he’s just a guy.
