Canucks Trade Anthony Beauvillier To Chicago
I guess the Blackhawks found their replacement for Corey Perry. In the weirdest situation that nobody really knows what’s going on, Chicago terminated Perry’s contract. The Blackhawks didn’t waste much time finding his replacement. Chicago has struck a trade with Vancouver to bring Anthony Beauvillier to town.
The Canucks team account was the first to reveal the news. Beauvillier heads to Chicago in exchange for a 5th round pick.
Beauvillier, 26, has 8 points in 22 games for the Canucks this season. That’s while playing 13:39 minutes of ice time per night. The former Islanders first round pick carries a cap hit of $4.150 million. He will hit unrestricted free agency after this season.
For Chicago, they get another winger they can pair with Connor Bedard. For Vancouver, this clears a lot of valuable cap space while also receiving a draft asset in return. Vancouver has been in the market for another defenseman like Chris Tanev or Nikita Zadorov. They could use their new cap space to trade for someone of that ilk. Zadorov, of course, has already requested a trade out of Calgary. It’s hard to not imagine that Vancouver has their eye on that situation. The Canucks could use another blue liner in the worst way.
Beauvillier has now been traded twice within a calendar year. He was also part of the Bo Horvat trade as well. A trade that looks better for the Islanders now that Vancouver has given up on Beauvillier. Not that that part is overly surprising.
