The Avalanche Should Trade For Elias Lindholm
The Avalanche won the Stanely Cup two years ago but the truth of the matter is that they haven’t been the same team since Nazem Kadri left. The Avs have not found that second line center to take them over the top since Kadri departed town. Elias Lindholm just makes so much sense for Colorado. It should be the number one player they’re targeting at the trade deadline.
Alex Newhook couldn’t get it done and isn’t even on the roster anymore. They couldn’t get a deal done for Bo Horvat, who would have been a perfect fit. Instead, Colorado made another half-assed effort and traded for past his prime Ryan Johansen. Still, Colorado finds themselves in the same rut. A very good team that’s missing that edge in the second line center spot.
Lindholm, 29, is another player that would be perfect for Colorado. He’s staring them in the face. A two-way player who’s been nominated for the Selke several times. Calgary is a mess right now but we’re talking about a guy that pocked 40 goals two years ago. In Colorado, his offense would likely explode again.
Lindholm is also on an expiring for cheap. It won’t be too difficult to fit his $4.85 million AAV under the cap. Especially midseason.
Colorado needs to get serious about winning. If they don’t replace the Kadri spot are they a real cup contender? Trading for Lindholm would get them back to that spot.
Sooooo what are they waiting for?
