The draft and waiver wire are key to winning your fantasy football 2023 championships. But the ability to buy low and sell high is also a surefire way to take advantage of player’s highs and lows.
Last week, I told you to sell Jerome Ford who had a poor showing against Baltimore. I also told you to buy Calvin Ridley who bounced back and had a touchdown against his former team. Let’s get into this week now.
The Dolphins offense is humming right now. Miami comfortably leads the league in yards and points, averaging an insane 37.5 points per game. Unfortunately, Jaylen Waddle hasn’t been a part of the action. After missing Week 3 with a concussion, Waddle had just four catches for 46 yards against Buffalo Sunday. Outside of that, Waddle hasn’t been all that productive anyways. The talented third-year receiver out of Alabama will bounce back in a big way, and head coach Mike McDaniel is the best at getting his playmakers the ball and that will happen soon with Waddle.
The Packers had an ugly showing against Detroit on Thursday night. Jordan Love and the offense couldn’t get anything going and Green Bay found themselves down big early. Consequently, the run game was abandoned–Aaron Jones saw just six touches. It was reported Jones was also on a snap count after dealing with a hamstring injury the two weeks prior. Going forward, the Packers have a long break before playing the Raiders and then a bye week. That’s plenty of time for Jones to get his hamstring right, and from there, the Packers will be looking to get one of their best playmakers more touches.
Najee Harris finally showed signs of life this week. Even in a blowout loss to the Texans, Harris finished the day with 71 yards on 14 carries, and a catch that went for 32 yards. Obviously, Harris didn’t blow up and you won’t be able to sell him for much. But this may be his peak value. Jaylen Warren continues to dig into this backfield as the two backs split snaps evenly this week. The Steelers as a whole have had an ugly offense that is not expected to change anytime soon. Harris’s once coveted pass-catching role has seemingly disappeared. Moreover, he’s the goal-line back for a team that sees very few goal-line situations. Sell Harris for what you can.
Similar to Najee Harris, Chris Godwin finally put up some good numbers this week. Godwin’s production came at the expense of a Mike Evans hamstring injury that caused him to leave the game in the first half. The absence of Evans made Godwin the favorite target of Baker Mayfield. Godwin went for 114 yards via eight catches on 11 targets. Evans’s injury could linger and prop Godwin up for a few more weeks, however, Evans’s return is inevitable and Godwin will be demoted into the secondary target in a middling offense. This may be one of your few chances to sell Godwin for solid value this whole season.
Trading this year in fantasy football 2023 can make or break your season. Suppose you can take advantage of when to buy low or sell high on a player. In that case, you’ll be giving yourself a significantly better advantage as the season progresses, ideally to a fantasy football championship.
