The Sunday of week one was a wild one. Wide receivers on new teams showed out in Devante Adams and A.J. Brown. We saw disappointing performances from Allen Robinson and Austin Ekeler. Certain backfield splits went against expectations. And those are what we look for in fantasy football. To buy low sell high on players is finding who had an off day, and who will see more looks in the future.
This is one of the easier picks to make. The Packers’ offense looked horrendous and struggled to move the ball consistently. Simply put, this is an Aaron Rodgers-led offense. Green Bay will put up more than seven points a week. They were down early, causing Jones to acquire just 8 touches. Once the offense gets into more of a rhythm, Aaron Jones will step up and dominate.
This guy makes the buy low sell high list solely on injury concerns. Keenan Allen looked great early in this game. Unfortunately, he left with a hamstring injury and did not return. Four catches for 66 yards in just the first half is to be expected with Justin Herbert at the helm. For Keenan Allen owners they might be missing him next week as the Chargers play Thursday Night against the Chiefs. If the Keenan Allen owner is reeling after a week one loss, take advantage. They’ll likely be missing the Chargers pass-catcher in week two as well.
This may be more of a shot in the dark, but if you can buy low on Kyle Pitts, don’t hesitate. The Falcons were off to a hot start against New Orleans, and they proceeded to rely heavily on the run game. Even so, Kyle Pitts got 7 targets from Marcus Mariota. Only 2 of those 7 were reeled in by Pitts, so a lackluster day ended with just 19 yards. Kyle Pitts is still a generational talent at tight end, and I liked what I saw from Marcus Mariota today. I am confident in him for the 2022 fantasy football season.
Terry McLaurin was an easy add to the buy low sell high list this week. Carson Wentz surprisingly had a great day. Throwing for 4 touchdowns and 313 yards against the Jaguars I would have expected McLaurin to get more than 4 targets. Even worse, McLaurin finished with 2 catches. One of the two did go for a 49-yard score. The Commanders do not get the cupcake matchup against Jacksonville every week. That along with the rookie Jahan Dotson becoming an immediate difference-maker, Terry McLaurin is a player you should be selling this week.
The Chiefs dominated this game from start to finish. Arizona had no answers giving up 44 points. Consequently, Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished with two touchdowns on just 10 touches. That will not happen every week. Kansas City still refuses to give CEH a consistent workload. This was a flukey game for the Chiefs and you can use this outlier to sell high Edwards-Healire for a solid wide receiver.
The Lions were tough to watch at times Sunday. The final score will say otherwise, but the Eagles were in control and ahead for the majority of the game. By the third quarter, Philadelphia was in prevent defense, allowing Jared Goff and the Lions to finally move the ball downfield albeit very slowly. This is where Amon-Ra St. Brown ate. Most of his 12 targets came in the second half, along with his 64 yards and touchdown. You can make the argument that the Lions may be in this type of game situation often this season. I’d rather not take that chance and sell high now on Amon-Ra St. Brown in 2022 fantasy football.
Trading in fantasy football can make or break your season. If you can take advantage of when to buy low/sell high on a player, you’ll be putting yourself in a significantly better advantage as the season goes on, ideally to a fantasy football championship.
