The Freddie Kitchens era is over before it ever really got started. Kitchens is out of a job just after being hired in the offseason. Cleveland finished off an incredibly disappointing after losing to Cincinnati in Week 17 capping off a 6-10 season. The Browns front office didn’t want too long to get rid of Kitchens.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news:
It’s not surprising that Kitchens was let go. Baker Mayfield took a step back in 2019. Actually, we should say that he was horrible this year. Numerous players were either underperforming or lashing out. David Njoku hinted at requesting a trade. Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham both basically said they wanted out.
This is something that had to be done. Cleveland was incredibly undisciplined and was penalized constantly. Despite having so much talent, this Browns team never put it together. After Myles Garrett wacked Mason Rudolph over the head with a helmet and then Kitchens wore the “Pittsburgh started it” shirt, it was only a matter of time.
The Browns have not done well hiring coaches. John Dorsey has to be on the hot seat too. Somehow Freddie Kitchens looked worse or just as bad as Hue Jackson. Nothing Dorsey has done has worked and he’s gambled on personalities. Everything has backfired. Jimmy Haslam deserves blame too. Just check out all of the coaches he’s hired.
Haslam is also a big booster for Tennessee Football. Ownership is a big or the biggest problem in Cleveland.
